Touchdown Malaysia! The Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur. July 15, 2012. Obligatory shot with the famous twin towers on the background – and since I am a tiny tiny girl, I had to jump in order to steal some attention from the two towers. This was the second to the last day of my stay in this vibrant city. We only got to tour around a few places but seeing the towers was more than enough for me. Context: I was flown to this city by Maybank because I participated in the Maybank Go Ahead Challenge. I cannot wait to write about that experience but for now, I’ll share the places I got to see during our “free and easy tour of Kuala Lumpur” as it said on our program. Haha. I was dead tired during this tour but you know me, nothing can dampen my energy when it comes to seeing new places. It was definitely the occasion to jump for joy!
Istana Negra, Kuala Lumpur. July 15, 2012. The official residence of the King of Malaysia but Wikipedia says that the official residence is now the new palace. I’m not sure now if the King actually lives here or what. I should ask my new found Malaysian friends. But, anyway, I was so amused to find out that Malaysia had an actual king even if the king doesn’t really hold any power. (I suck at learning about politics and all that jazz. I’m working on it). I remember having a conversation with someone that it must be a challenge to have to inspire the people despite having no “actual” power. Interesting thought. Mmm. Anyway, so here we are doing what we do best, posing for the camera like there’s no point – well, I think there is no point. I don’t remember why we were doing this but maybe then again it is because of our intense lack of sleep. But still, that did not make our touring and picture-taking any less fun. Hooray for our undying energy for the sake of memory-keeping.
Still having fun in front of the Petronas Towers. Left to Right Dheepan (Maybank Apprentice), Sexy Maniya, Champion Franz, Mr. Presence Zack, Maria my alter ego and Sophia (Maybank Manager). Of course we had to jump. Haha. We met Dheepan and Sophia in Manila during the National Finals and then they took very good care of us in KL. Terima Kasih to you two and of course, salamat to my Filipino friends. We were not team mates in KL but we still supported each other – that’s the spirit! I’m beyond happy I got to experience KL with these people, I miss you guys already despite the fact that we almost missed our plane and ran like crazy. I’m really so proud of all of us. I hope we see each other in Malaysia again in the future!
Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.
P.S. I realized how badly I missed travelling and random night outs with such interesting people. Every second is always an experience and a teacher; I am just so thankful.
