It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
Season to be Jolly. Technically, it is past midnight now but it doesn’t mean we should stop celebrating! I was trying to look for a Christmas looking photo of me and some people and I had a bunch of choices but I ended up choosing this one. This was taken last year on December 20 of last year by Sofiane in the cutest little ice cream parlor in Kowloon City. In our four months of friendship there, we promised each other we’d eat here before we all went home – and we did and it was great. We’re not complete here but it was still a wonderful night.
I remember trying to look for Christmas so early in HK last year. Having been raised in the country with the longest Christmas season ever, I was missing the songs and the lights and the random carolers and everything that signaled Christmas was coming. But, looking back and looking at Christmas this year, Christmas is really simply about being around the people you love the most. Last year, I spent the days leading up to Christmas with this family I grew to love and trust and share a lot of things with. This year, I spend Christmas with the family I was born into who, of course, I love and trust more than any other people in the world. Cutting the sentimentality short, thank you Jesus for putting me in the most awesome family and helping me find one at times when I’m away.
Happy Christmas to you and your family! Keep the love alive!
